Daniel Tiger Theme Party in the Works

March 24, 2015 by admin Leave a Comment

I really thought we’d be doing a Peppa Pig birthday for Miss Elliott, who turns 3 in May, but she insists she wants Daniel Tiger. So, Daniel Tiger it is!

PBS has a page with some really cute party ideas, free printables and graphics so I’ll be using some of those resources to create more great things for her party. I loved the trolley so here is my version, which just needs a few more finishing to be complete.

I didn’t think a box wrapped in wrapping paper would hold up very well so I decided to cover ours with flannel and felt. I used cardstock for the roof and as I was gluing the roof and the top yellow piece I discovered the plastic container I used  is entirely too flimsy to hold any kind of weight on top of it without buckling, so we will not be using this as a dessert plate holder. But we could still put cupcakes on top I guess. The PBS website didn’t give dimensions for the box so I found one I thought looked like a good size. While it is a decent size, it probably should’e been about 5″ longer…if you compare my trolley to the one on the PBS site you might notice mine only has two windows on the side. Not a huge deal, but I was a little disappointed. LOL Oh well.

Daniel Tiger Trolley Project

P.S. I know sorta fell off the grid after Halloween, and for that I apologize. But, I promise to share all the fun Daniel Tiger birthday party printables with you when they are ready. Will you forgive me for being such a terrible blogger?! =) I’m more active on Facebook and Instagram if you want to hang out with me there!

{Colorful} April Showers

3D Rainbow Mobile

Our April showers in the midwest have included not only rain, but much to my dismay even SNOW! For today’s Felt Fun Friday project I thought I’d put a colorful spin on the April Showers theme with a 3D Rainbow Raindrop Mobile.

3D Rainbow Mobile

I’ve had the idea of a cloud with rainbow raindrops floating around in my head for awhile, and at the last minute I thought about the 3D aspect, so I gave it a shot.

3D Rainbow Mobile

I think it turned out pretty cute, don’t you?

3D Rainbow Mobile

It could be cute as a baby mobile, but since our girls aren’t babies anymore, and we just took down the crib :::sniff, sniff::: I hung it from the fan pull.

3D Rainbow Mobile

I really like it, and I’m inspired to try more 3D applications with felt. What 3D creations have you made with felt?

For My {Easter} Peeps

Felt Peeps for Easter Basket

I don’t know about you, but my kids get more than enough candy at holidays so I’m always looking for some fun alternatives that won’t rot their teeth. Today’s Felt Fun Friday project is another quick and easy project just in time for last minute Easter basket additions!

Felt Peeps for Easter Basket

Make a dozen of these little cuties to stick in baskets or hide around the house along with eggs and candy! I made mine single sided but you could make them double sided very easily by adding another colored piece of felt on the back side. =)

Felt Rainbow Hair Clip Set by Candyland Studio

Felt is a wonderful material for teaching tools, but it’s also a very fun medium for making your own fashion accessories, too! If you haven’t noticed from some of my other projects, I LOVE COLOR! This is one reason I love working with felt so very, very much…there is such a HUGE assortment of colors and patterns you can select from when working on your projects. Today’s Felt Fun Friday project is great for those who can’t decide on just one color. =)

Feeling a little blue today? How about pink? Maybe green? What little girl wouldn’t love a whole pile of these vibrantly colored rainBOW hair clips to mix and match with a favorite outfit, currently holiday, or mood?!

An interesting feature of these hair clips is that they are detachable and interchangeable. So you simply pull one off and attach another in no time at all!

Detachable Bow Backs

Plus, the clips are fully lined and have a no-slip grip so they work great if your kids are like mine and have really thin, or barely-there hair!

Felt for a Good Cause: {Awareness Ribbons}

Felt for a Good Cause: Awareness Ribbons

Today’s Felt Fun Friday post was inspired by a Facebook fan who shared these photos with me. Blue felt awareness ribbons were used as part of a centerpiece at a fundraiser for a dear friend of hers. (You can read his story here. If you are in a position to help financially please do, every dollar counts!)

Felt Awareness Ribbons

I thought it was a fabulous idea! Felt comes in soooo many wonderful colors and patterns, you could use it to make ribbons for any cause. You can look up the list of awareness ribbon colors to find the right color(s) or pattern if you’re unsure which ones to use.

I put together a printable template for you too, in case you would like to make your own felt awareness ribbons.

Awareness Ribbon Printable

The ribbons are 6″ tall, but you may be able to resize on your computer as needed. I included two styles – a single color ribbon, and another with a contrasting outline, or to be used for multi-colored awareness ribbons.

Let’s raise awareness and help one another! Live well, be strong, fight hard.
